George Edward Wall was the sixth child of Thomas Wall & Mary Barker christened September 3rd, 1843 at Smethwick, Staffs.
In 1851 George was living at home at Holyhead Rd, Wednesbury with his parents & brothers & sisters.
In 1861 he was still living at home at Cross St, Wednesbury & working as a forgeman.
On January 22nd 1866 George, a hammerman, married Sarah Parsons at Moxley, Staffs. Witnesses at the wedding were George’s brother Josiah Wall & Elizabeth Parsons. Sarah was the daughter of Fanny Phineas Parsons, a puddler, christened May 25th, 1847 at Halesowen, Worcester. At the time of the wedding George was 22 & Sarah 18 years old.
In 1871 George & Sarah were living at 12 Chapel St, Wednesbury & George was an iron worker. They had a 1 year old daughter Rosanna. George & Sarah had another daughter, Fanny, who was born in 1866. At the time of the census she was living with her widowed grandmother, Fanny Parsons, a beer house keeper, in Wednesbury. Fanny appears to have been brought up by her grandmother & was to marry John Grainger in 1888 at Moxley, Staffs. By 1891 Fanny & John Grainger, now a beerhouse keeper, were living in Wednesbury with a 2 year old daughter, Sarah Fanny. They were to have a son, John George before Fanny’s death in 1896.
By 1881 George & Sarah were living at 14 Hobbins St, Wednesbury with only daughter Rosanna.
George died aged 43 on December 3rd, 1886, at Hobbins St, Wednesbury. His will was proved at Lichfield by his widow Sarah on January 10th, 1887 & his effects were £114.6s.
Sarah was still living at Hobbins St in 1891 with her daughter, Rosanna, now 21. Sarah was listed as living on her own means. Daughter Rosanna married William Sheldon in 1893. William was living just nearby in 1891 in Hobbins St with his parents, Selina & William Sheldon. Sadly Rosanna died on December 15th, 1897, aged 27 at 14 Perry St, Wednesbury & probate was granted to her mother Sarah on July 25th, 1898, her effects amounting to £60.
Sarah died, aged 51, on November 14th, 1898, at 14 Perry St, Wednesbury. Probate was granted on December 20th, 1898 to Abraham Allbut, draper & William Wattis, rate collector. Her effects amounted to £1230.6s.9d.
